From BDI, Our High End Home Entertainment Furniture Supplier

Here is a great article from BDI, a product spotlight on their new introductions the Cirrus home theatre cabinet and the Xela table collection

Product Spotlight - Cirrus 8158 and Xela Tables

Unique console cabinet and tables now shipping!

Sometimes the ideal TV height is higher than the typical TV cabinet allows. For those places where the TV needs to be a little higher, such as the bedroom or game room, BDI has engineered the console-height CIRRUS 8158 home theater cabinet. This innovative cabinet, designed by Matthew Weatherly, is now shipping.

Cirrus 8158 is the ideal choice for a flat panel TV (up to 60”) and a large home theater system, with space for a full array of components, including a media storage drawer. The cabinet features sliding wood-framed doors with IR-friendly, grey tinted glass that conceal two side compartments for electronic components. The center shelf can be easily adjusted, providing the ideal space for a center channel speaker and/or additional components. The center drawer discreetly stores over 75 DVDs or CDs. CIRRUS 8158 is compatible with BDI’s swiveling Arena Flat Panel TV Mount 9972; this allows the TV to stand even higher and always provide the best view.

Also now shipping are the beautifully functional XELA tables, designed by Al Glass. Storage and flexibility are the keys to the elegant XELA tables. Crafted with beautifully grained American Walnut and grey tinted tempered glass, all tables in the collection integrate storage compartments to keep everyday items out of the way. These tables feature a rich Chocolate Stained finish that perfectly complements the grain of the Walnut veneer (and coordinates beautifully with the new Avion Series II in the same finish). The coffee tables are available in three models, and glide on hidden casters or may be secured in place – perfect for use with a sleeper sofa. The versatile XELA console table also makes a great laptop desk.

Avion and Novia Offer Speaker Storage Options
Since 2005, BDI's AVION and NOVIA collections have featured innovative openings in door and drawer fronts that accommodate glass or speaker fabric panels. When the user is placing speakers in the side component compartments, they will need to convert the glass panels to speaker fabric. Similarly, if the user is not using a center channel speaker in a speaker drawer, they may elect to change this front over to a glass panel.

Changing from one to the other is a simple process. Though we originally included a set of optional panel inserts with these cabinets, we discontinued this practice in 2007 after learning that less than 10% of consumers were utilizing them. However, this option is still available to consumers. We now provide optional inserts only on request from the Dealer or the consumer. The user can find further information about obtaining panel inserts in their assembly instructions. Contact Carolina Rustica Customer Service for more information.

Vexa
Imagine a clean lined steel and black tempered glass stand at a great price, and you have the very definition of the Vexa series. Vexa is a collection of open TV stands with gently curved fronts. Combine them together and a home theater is framed with a unique 'wave' design. Contructed of powder coated steel and tempered black glass, the collection features an integrated wire management back panel to hide cables, and hidden wheels that allow the entire stand to move away from the wall.

10 Design Do's: From our Lighting Supplier: Golden Lighting

Golden Lighting is one of our favorite lighting suppliers, because they have such a great variety of designs and their pricing is absolutely incredible.   They consistently introduce popular designs that are always in demand by today's homeowners.    On their last newsletter, they send out 10 Design "Do's", which we thought would be helpful to our customers.   Remember, you can shop for Golden Lighting here on our website.

1. Get inspired.Don’t box yourself into a particular design style. Today’s design is about bringing together a mixture of elements that inspire you. Maybe you're mostly contemporary, but a rustic lamp really inspires you. Don't be afraid to mix and match -- just make it your own distinctive style.

2. More is not always better.
Don't buy decorative items just to fill space. Find items that mean something to you and inspire you. Don't settle on something that’s just okay because it fits your room or budget. It’s worth the wait to save your money and get decorative pieces that fit your personality and make you smile!
3. Have a plan.
When you have a plan before you start decorating it helps you to create a room that is functional and creates synergy throughout.
4. Buy quality.
Discounts and bargains are great, but make sure it’s a quality piece. Just because it's pretty, doesn't mean it's quality. Buy brands that you trust, and remember it’s worth paying a little more for something that will last.
5. Explore color.
White is boring. Color brings personality and style into a room. Be bold! Find shades that make you happy and liven up your room. It’s especially fun to explore your creativity in smaller rooms that you don't use as often, such as a guest bathroom.
6. Keeping up with the Jones’ – not necessary.
Decorate for you, not your friends or guests. Your style should be uniquely yours. Looking at trends to give you ideas is fine, but make your space your own. You will be the one living with your choices every day.
7. Lighting can change a room.
Of course you need lighting to see, but think beyond the functional. Lighting can set the mood of the room and with so many unique styles and finishes to choose from, consider selecting lighting as you would furniture. Maybe instead of a traditional lamp, try a sconce or chandelier as part of your design theme.
8. Art comes in many forms.
Art doesn’t have to come from a pricey gallery. It just has to have value to you. Framing your child’s drawings makes lovely art for a kid’s room. Think outside the box. Even a unique light or fan can be the focal art of the room!
9. Use all six room surfaces: four walls, a floor and ceiling.
Look up! There’s more than just four walls to decorate in a room. Don't forget the ceiling. Extend the color on the walls into the ceiling to create a cohesive look to the room. Just be sure to choose a ¼ lighter shade of paint on the ceiling since horizontal planes tend to look darker than vertical planes. Or try ceiling tiles or different textures. Also, make sure you choose quality surfaces for your flooring. Your floor get’s a lot of use, make sure it cleans and wears nicely.
10. Room design should blend.
With so many open floor plans, you need to consider how your new design will fit or flow into the other rooms of your home. Do the color schemes and design styles work together? Coordinate the metal finish from your kitchen into the metal surfaces of the lamps and coffee tables of the living room.
